ROVA 5 Long Intro
ROVA 5 Long - LeRobot-Compatible SO-101 Style Arm, Extended Reach (5+1 DOF, +100 mm)
This is a compact, table-top robotic arm inspired by the SO-101 and designed for the same LeRobot-style workflow. You can teleoperate it, record demonstrations, build a dataset, train a model, and run tasks autonomously. Compared to a standard SO-101, this version keeps the same overall concept and ecosystem compatibility, while adding 100 mm of extra reach for a larger working area on the table.
What you can do with it
-
Teleoperate and record demonstrations using software teleop
-
Collect datasets for real-world manipulation
-
Train imitation-learning policies and deploy them back to the arm
-
Run repeatable tasks like pick-and-place, sorting, stacking, and simple desk-scale workflows
-
Work across a bigger workspace thanks to the extended reach
Why the extra 100 mm matters
The longer reach helps you:
-
Cover a wider portion of the table without moving the base
-
Pick and place across larger bins, trays, or multiple zones
-
Reduce repositioning during data collection, so you can capture more useful demonstrations per session
-
Explore tasks that need a larger arc of motion, such as handoffs between two areas or wider sorting layouts
Key features
-
5+1 DOF (5 joints plus a 1-DOF gripper) in a desk-friendly footprint
-
Extended reach design with 100 mm longer arm geometry than standard SO-101 style builds
-
Smart serial bus servos with encoder feedback for consistent joint control
-
USB connection to your computer through a controller or driver board
-
Designed to follow the same data collection and training loop used in the LeRobot ecosystem
